The first of three shorts starring Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, “Coyote Falls” revisits Chuck Jones’ nostalgic cartoons in a new era of animation and technology. We were tapped by Warner Bros. Animation to reinvent the cartoon’s legacy while still maintaining its authenticity. The shorts had to capture the spirit of the originals with the subtleties of humor, timing, and heart loved by Looney Tunes fans across the globe. To achieve this, we created innovative rigging and animation techniques and custom tools that would give the shorts a 2D feel, despite being created in a 3D stereoscopic pipeline.

“Coyote Falls” premiered in July 2010 in front of Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore to rave reviews.

This project will always hold a special place in my heart. Because this was the catalyst that gave us the opportunity to finally join Reel FX after two years of waiting!

Now you would think after pining away for that long, that there would be no way that our dreams could possibly hold up to reality. But they did and then some. We instantly felt at home at the studio as well as with the people. And those feelings are now forever intertwined with every frame of the digital celluloid you see above. As well as some blood, sweat, and happy tears of course.

I always loved Looney Tunes growing up, and now I feel nothing but honored to have contributed to the history of these timeless characters. Hope you enjoy them!
